My name is Phil. I'm a 20 year old student majoring in Clinical Psychology and Neuroscience here at UCLA. I fell in love with art when I was only 4 years old.

At first, it was out of fear...I always thought those paintings were watching me with their eyes (due to a traumatizing experience when I was younger) so I started drawing with crayons on my walls. When my parents yelled at me and asked me why I was drawing so much instead of studying or practicing piano, I told them I wanted friends so that they could protect me. I told them my drawings came to life at night and made me less afraid of the dark.

Even though now I'm grown up, I still retain my childhood memories, inspirations, and dreams deep in my heart. I daydream a lot, and draw my inspiration from the world around me. The sights, the sounds, the smells, even the painful feeling of getting pricked by a rose and seeing my blood stain it's leaves, I believe that senses are our way of connecting to and truly appreciating the beauty of the world around us. Much too often we're so caught up with our thoughts and errands that we often take it for granted.

I love photography. I believe that, cameras are one of the few things powerful enough in this world that can stop time. They are able to trap memories forever in photos, so we can never forget them. Beauty is all around us, but some happen only once in a lifetime, and it's my goal to capture as many of those snapshots as I can. You'll see me walking around UCLA with camera always in hand, traveling to fun places such as the Getty Villa or the hiking trails overlooking beaches, in search of these treasures. I can't help it, I'm just an adventurous guy! I love finding new hiding spots that no one else knows about, or discovering a new perspective of the world that can only be seen from a certain angle, light, or even time of year. What everyone always says about me: I'm everywhere :]

I know most of you will only think "o that's a nice picture" and never look at my art ever again, but if you're able to stop and really examine the deeper meanings behind it, please tell me what you see! I'd love to hear your interpretations of my art, because after all, a photo is worth a thousand words! But if you only look at it once, I just hope that it'll make you smile. That's just what I do. I'm trying to master my skills as a smile bender. har har. But honestly.

If I can bring happiness into another persons life with a photo, a quote, a poem, or even a drawing, I know I've made a difference :]
